Meet the Artist: Chris YunSheng McGirr

Chris YunSheng McGirr is a self-taught artist based in Allen, Texas, who discovered the power of art therapy. Creating art has become a deeply fulfilling practice for Chris, allowing him to share his unique perspective with others. He experiments with a variety of textures and aromas - coffee beans, dried teas, sand, salt, seashells - to create vibrant, meaningful works. Chris’s approach to painting is tactile and sensory, using his hands as brushes to build up texture and express emotion through color and touch.

“I’m blind and have found a passion for expressing myself through art. I hope you (through participating my workshop) feel what I see through texture, and you see what I feel through colors. This workshop gives me an opportunity to demonstrate blind people can paint and show others how to do so blind-folded.”
